C. Robert Pryor

B.S., University of Michigan; M.A.T., Antioch University
Robert Pryor designed the Antioch Education Abroad Buddhist Studies in Bodh Gaya, India program and has taken groups of students to India as Program Director since 1979. He has taught courses on Contemporary Buddhist Culture and Buddhist Meditation Traditions in addition to the courses. Active in his local community, he serves as a trustee of the Yellow Springs Dharma Center, an organization whose activities involve both local college students and Yellow Springs residents. In 1987, he founded Insight Travel, an educationally oriented company that focuses on pilgrimage in Asia. At present, he is researching for a biography of Anagarika Munindra, who was an important Vipassana Meditation Teacher during the twentieth century. His approach to teaching emphasizes the use of anthropological methods, and he is particularly interested in the social and institutional impact of Buddhism as it interacts with American culture.
