Academics, Syllabi, Directors
Academics- Our distinctive study abroad programs are designed to integrate in-depth studies in the sciences and humanities with challenging opportunities to engage in deeply rewarding, often life-changing experiences of living and travel abroad. Our Program Directors lead students on explorations in their academic fields in diverse locations worldwide. AEA programs further an historic Antioch tradition of combining rigorous academics with independent field research, apprenticeships, and internships. The faculty and staff of AEA make a special effort to personalize the study abroad experience for each participating student, yet at the same time assuring that the program curricula meet field expectations and provide well-organized academic and experiential foundations. To ensure that we are meeting these goals, each year AEA’s Academic Council assesses each of our programs individually.
Syllabi- Our syllabi are designed with multiple cross-cultural and academic learning
objectives in mind. Our Directors strive to design courses that are both challenging and rewarding and include the most up-to-date research in their field. Each of our study abroad programs has a syllabi for every course offered. Complete syllabi are available upon request. (Syllabi are not available for our Antioch in Germany courses because students may elect to take any course offered by Eberhard Karls Universität.)
Directors- Our Program Directors are recognized as teachers and scholars in their
academic fields, are well experienced in travel and living in the host country, and for a number of years, have been leading students in their international, academic experiences. You can read complete biographies for each of our directors here.
